About Epics Music

Epics Music teaching philosophy is simple: to learn and have fun! Music is full of emotion and meaning and is meant to be enjoyed; therefore it seems counterproductive to have lessons that are dreary and boring. We tailor lessons to the students’ strengths, weaknesses and interests. We invest in new material and combine practical exercises with current technology. Our aim is to provide fun and enjoyable lessons while working diligently to achieve specific and measurable goals. Most importantly we aim to create a fun, energetic and supportive learning atmosphere and community.

We have a talented team of teachers with varying levels of experience and expertise. To reflect their skills and qualifications fairly, we offer a three-tier pricing structure designed to accommodate different levels of teaching experience. See here for more information on them individually.

Epics Music Studio Policy

Studio Policy for Epics Music Practice Expectations:

Students are required to practise at home between lessons. Daily practise is vital to musical progress. The recommended amount of practise time will be discussed with the student depending on their age and skill level. Sufficient scheduled practise time on a daily basis is the surest guarantee that you, or your child, will experience consistent progress at their instrument. It takes committed practise during the week to put skills covered at the lesson into motion.

Payment Required:

All lessons will be calculated and billed monthly with two additional payments.  Creative Kids vouchers need to be submitted through the appropriate form (https://forms.gle/HPwqUeLKKotyw1az6) to be credited to your account.

Missed Lessons:

It is the parents/account manager's responsibility to cancel the lesson through the online portal. There are no refunds for missed lessons. Teachers can provide an online video lesson which will be sent via the portal for the student to complete throughout the week. Alternatively, one make-up credit will be given at no additional charge, provided that 24 hours advance notice is given that a lesson will be missed. The make-ups are to be completed by the end of the Term. Make-up lessons will be given only at times and dates within the teacher’s normal teaching schedule and will be shown upon booking.  It is the parents/account manager's responsibility to book the make-up lesson through the online portal. They can be used with a different teacher or instrument. The lesson is considered to have been given if the student misses the scheduled make-up lesson for any reason. Make-up lessons are limited to one in any given term; they may not be "carried over" from one term to another.

Attendance and Lesson Cancellations:

Regular punctual attendance of lessons is an issue of responsibility and choice on the part of parents and students. Lessons can be moved to online and only requires 30 Minutes notice. Please be considerate and cancel your lesson through the portal if you must cancel a lesson for any reason. As stated above you need to cancel within 24 hours of our lesson to receive a Make-up lesson. The studio shall, however, assume financial responsibility should the teacher become ill, be out of town, or cancel for any reason and a substitute can not be found. A make-up lesson will be issued or the following month's regular fee will be reduced by that particular amount. Lessons can be cancelled through the Opus1.io online portal which will notify the teacher and the director straight away.

Online Lessons:

Lessons are always available via Zoom. If you/your child or the teacher has a mild cough or mild cold/flu-like symptoms lessons will be moved to Online. If there is a global pandemic (such as Covid19) lessons will be moved to Online.

Parental Involvement:

Parents may stay to observe lessons or leave if they prefer. Siblings are welcome in the waiting room. Parents and siblings must act appropriately. Siblings and friends must be accompanied by an adult during lessons unless otherwise discussed.

Child Drop off and Pick Up:

To uphold our part of the NSW Child Safe Policy that we implement here at Epics Music, unless stated on in Section C of this form, your child will be asked to stay on the premises until their parent or guardian collects them. If someone else that we have not met is collecting your child please let us know beforehand.

The Waiting Room and Outside Area:

Please be considerate of others around you, making sure to show others in the room respect by keeping noise to a minimum. Do not feed the fish. Do not download or upload any illegal content while using Epics Music free WiFi.

Parking and property:

For student safety, Parking at the top of the driveway is suitable only for picking up and dropping off, otherwise please park on the street whilst still respecting the neighbours’ driveways. When waiting for your lesson or picking up your child please remain in the waiting room as a courtesy to other students.

Lesson Books:

Ensure lesson books and folders are bought to each lesson as progress and notes are made each week. This includes grey exercise books, Alfred’s or Wunderkeys lesson book, folders and any sheet music we have been working on.

Behaviour:

It is understood that each child behaves differently. Nevertheless, the studio reserves the right to terminate a student's lessons for the following infractions:

• Inappropriate behaviour toward the teacher on the part of the student. This includes but not limited to violent outbursts, swearing, defamation of character, unacceptable advances or any other displays which fall outside the realm of common respect and decency.

• Poor attendance and lack of communicating cancellations.

• Continually failure to pay for lessons in full by due date.

Government Guidelines:

For the safety of our students and our staff Epics Music has a Covid Safe Plan registered with Service NSW. Epics Music will follow all small business guidelines that are in place regarding social distancing, mask wearing, QR code check-in and confirmation of vaccination status. If at any point a student or family member is not able to adhere to restrictions, lessons will be temporarily moved to online.
